There’s no better time to start introducing the talented people behind the magic of Marvel Consulting than right now. This autumn, our team is growing significantly: Marvel Consulting has acquired the entire share capital of Loom Oy, and together we’ll continue our shared mission: finding the right experts for our clients’ IT projects.

First up in our series is one of Marvel Consulting’s owners, Sampsa Siitonen, who has served as our CEO since 2021.

Here’s our interview with Sampsa!

Life as the CEO of an IT consulting company

The CEO of an IT consulting company wears many hats. No two days look alike, and yesterday’s schedule rarely matches today’s.

Sampsa, what does the CEO’s role at Marvel Consulting involve?

“The core responsibilities are the same as for the company overall: sales and recruitment. On top of that, I handle all the tasks that don’t have a dedicated owner, as well as covering for colleagues during vacations or sick leave. The role is incredibly varied!”

Deep roots in software entrepreneurship

Both Sampsa and Marvel Consulting have deep roots in software entrepreneurship. Alongside Sampsa, the company’s founders, Tommi and Ossi, have been active in the software industry for years.

What first brought you into IT and consulting?

“I’ve been in IT and software since the very start of my career, when I co-founded my first software company with fellow students. I was drawn then, and still am, to creating new products and services for the world. I’ve never left the field; I’ve always worked in software development and sales. What makes IT consulting especially interesting is being able to help clients build top-notch software development teams, while also finding our recruits meaningful projects they’ll truly enjoy.

I can share the origin story of Marvel Consulting as well. I’d been buying freelance development services from Tommi and Ossi for years. They’d long had the idea of starting their own consulting company. Our skills complemented each other perfectly: I had experience building teams and selling services, while they brought the deep technical expertise into the company. Starting Marvel Consulting together was a natural step forward.”

Inspired by passion and purpose

Work is a huge part of life, so finding meaning and inspiration in it is essential.

What matters most to you in your work?

“I could talk about this for ages. For me, work itself is a passion. It’s often the most effective way to make an impact on something you care about. If you want to achieve something, start a company for it. Go and do it. Having a purpose to work toward is key. I care deeply about Finland’s economy and employment. The more we grow, the more we positively impact the economy. The more we recruit and sell, the more we improve employment in Finland.

Beyond pursuing my own goals, this job lets me support our clients’ goals as well, which adds an extra dimension to the work. And personally, I find the challenge of growing a company – and tackling the hurdles that come with it – endlessly fascinating.”

Marvel Consulting: Today and tomorrow

The acquisition mentioned earlier brings change to Marvel Consulting in the near future, but some things, especially our values, will remain.

What do you appreciate most about Marvel Consulting?

“What I like most about us is the way we work according to our main value, freedom. Here, you’re trusted to work in the way that suits you best, as long as we’re achieving both our shared goals and those of our clients. We strive to understand everyone’s needs and involve them in our community. Our team and client base are diverse. On top of that, we have a strong forward-driven culture and we’re always aiming to improve as a company, as a community, and as individuals. Standing still is not an option.”

Where do you want to take Marvel Consulting in the future?

“That ties nicely to my previous point: onwards and upwards! Growth is a continuous journey. We want to improve on all fronts; recruit more in-house talent, strengthen our community, help clients develop their software, and keep getting better at it every day.

I also want to preserve our sense of community and team spirit. Looking ahead, I see opportunities in AI-driven product development and expanding geographically beyond Finland.”
